Bizana – On March 19, 2025 – A small vehicle collided with a cow in Mathwebu Location, Bizana, on Tuesday evening, in an incident that has once again highlighted the dangers of stray livestock on local roads.

The accident took place approximately 300 meters from the site where renowned playwright and musician Mbongeni Ngema tragically lost his life in December 2023. According to eyewitness reports, the vehicle struck the cow as a herd was crossing the road from the Khomanishi veld.

Emergency services responded swiftly, with paramedics and an ambulance arriving at the scene. Fortunately, no human injuries were reported, though the condition of the animal remains unknown.

Local authorities and community leaders have urged motorists to exercise caution when traveling through the area, as stray livestock continues to pose a significant road hazard.

“Drivers need to remain alert, especially during early mornings and evenings when livestock movement is high,” said a local resident.

Road users are advised to reduce speed, use headlights effectively, and stay vigilant while driving in rural areas where animals frequently roam.
