Today, March 5, 2025, marked a bittersweet day for publisher and author Nomawele Njongo as she remembers her beloved family member, Nyakanyaka, on what would have been her birthday.

Nyakanyaka’s life was tragically cut short in a car accident on August 31, 2024, near Kwasukude. She suffered severe injuries, including a devastating head injury, and passed away 20 days later on September 20, 2024.

Nomawele Njongo took to social media to pay tribute to her loved one, expressing the profound grief and sense of loss that still lingers six months after Nyakanyaka’s passing.

Today marks six months since we laid you to rest, yet it feels as though you’ve merely stepped away, that you’ll return at any moment, Nomawele wrote.

The family’s pain is still palpable, and Nomawele struggles to come to terms with the loss. “I miss you profoundly, Nyakanyaka, mtakamama. May your soul find eternal peace.”

As Nomawele navigates this difficult day, she finds solace in the memories of Nyakanyaka’s vibrant life, cut short in its prime. The family’s love and remembrance will continue to honor Nyakanyaka’s memory.
