The Eastern Cape Executive Council (EXCO) members, led by Premier Lubabalo Oscar Mabuyane, are set to join forces with Ministers and Deputy Ministers on a week-long Back to School Outreach Programme across the province. This initiative, scheduled to take place from January 21-24, 2025, aims to promote education, support learners, and engage with local communities.

The programme seeks to ensure all learners have opportunities to become productive, responsible, and competitive citizens through an inclusive quality basic education system. By mobilizing community and stakeholder support, the government recognizes education as a societal matter.

During the campaign, EXCO members, Ministers, and Deputy Ministers will interact with learners, teachers, and parents, providing support through donations of educational materials, infrastructure development, and mentorship programs. The delegation will also engage with local communities, listening to concerns and suggestions on improving education.

This initiative builds on previous successes, where school visits led to improved teaching and learning outcomes. Media representatives are invited to cover the campaign, with details of the areas to be visited by individual EXCO members, Ministers, and Deputy Ministers to be shared by the provincial department’s Spokespersons/Media Liaison Officers (MLOs).

The Eastern Cape EXCO Back-to-School Outreach Programme is an annual campaign that demonstrates the government’s commitment to education and community development. By working together, the government aims to create a brighter future for the province’s learners.
