The AbaThembu King has invited the Mthatha West community to a crucial meeting on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Laphumikwezi Primary School. The meeting will address the closure of local schools due to criminal activities targeting teachers.
Teachers report being coerced into paying a “protection fee” by transferring school funds to an account provided by criminals. At least four schools have been affected by this extortion scheme, according to reports.
Residents are urged to attend the meeting to discuss the situation and seek solutions to ensure the safety of educators and the continuation of schooling in the area.
