In a momentous occasion, Mia le Roux from Cape Town was crowned Miss South Africa 2024 at the 66th pageant finale held at the SunBet Arena in Pretoria on Saturday night. The 28-year-old marketing manager and part-time student made history as the first differently-abled finalist to win the title.

Overcome with emotion, Le Roux accepted the coveted Mowana crown and a prize package worth R1 million, including a serviced apartment, a Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupé, and other luxurious goodies.

In her heartfelt acceptance speech, Le Roux expressed her gratitude and pride, acknowledging the significance of her win for little girls who feel different. She shared her personal journey of receiving a cochlear implant at age two and learning to hear and speak, emphasizing the importance of determination and hard work.

As Miss South Africa 2024, Le Roux vowed to be a voice for those who have faced exclusion and to champion causes that matter to South Africans. She aims to create a space where everyone can shine in their unique way.

Runner-up Nompumelelo Maduna from Soweto also shone bright at the spectacular event. Le Roux’s historic win marks a new era for the Miss South Africa pageant, celebrating diversity and inclusivity.
