This rapist, Xolani Qangane, who is fifty-eight (58) years old, was sentenced to eleven years by the Zwelitsha trial court after being convicted of raping a fourteen (14)-year-old girl in 1997.
Currently, the victim is forty-one (41) years old and has been working as a social worker
According to the court report, the rapist was working as a photographer at a shopping mall in Qonce at the time of the incident.
It is said that the victim and her cousins visited the man’s business to take pictures, and that is what happened.
The man lured the victim into a room with the promise of different pictures being taken.
The couple posed for photos together. It is said that the girl returned to him days later to ask him why he said they were dating.
He promised to take another picture from his house and he will end up raping her in Dimbaza township and there it was discovered that he threatened to kill her.
While studying at the University, she told the boy she was dating.
That was the beginning of the accusation.
In 2020, the victim saw a rapist in Monti driving a taxi and took the number written on it, called the man to apologize but Qanqane likened him to another saying that he was already punished for the sin he committed
It was then that the victim realized that she was not the only victim of rape.
Luxolo Tyali of the NPA says that in 2021 the victim opened a case of rape and was tried after twenty four (24) years. The man was successfully convicted on the testimony of the victim and the statement of the man he was smiling with.
