ECDoE hold a one-day team building to capacitate educators

The Eastern Cape Department of Education held a one-day team-building program on the 25 August 2023 at the Christian Campsite Lekkeroord in East London.

The program was coordinated by the Buffalo City Municipality (BCM) District, an employee health and wellness unit for Kusile Comprehensive school based in Duncan village.

The purpose of the program was to create unity amongst staff members, gain open communication skills, teambuilding, problem solving skills, being able to create conducive work environment and make collegues feel welcome in their work place.

MS Mandisa Mange, a social worker at the BCM District office at the employee health and wellness section, was asked if she felt the training was beneficial to the staff members and why, she had this to say, “Yes, the buildup of other interventions we had at the school, this session reached the climax.

Our intervention started 4 weeks ago with relation-building session and personal growth this one was to do group exercise outside the comfort zone of school premises.”

MS Mange further went on to say, “The program managed to meet my expectations for the group, the activities encouraged group work and utilization of individual strengths.”

“As the School Principal, I feel the program had a positive outcome, it will be very beneficial to the school, amongst other things it taught us tolerance, forgiveness, importance of communication, teamwork, assisting each other when one faces a challenge and there will be improvement in the working relationships among staff, learners and parents, “said Mr N.L Nyangiwe.

Additionally, MS M Bheza, school Educator from Kusile School said, “The program was beneficial to us as Educators, we got to connect as colleagues, learn to work together as a team and understand each other’s personality which I believe it makes working together easier and peacefully.”
