Youth Employment Jobs Fair Empowers Umzimvubu Youth with Opportunities

Ntlabeni Village in Umzimvubu Local Municipality recently hosted a successful Youth Employment Jobs Fair, organized by the Government Communication and Information System (GCIS) in Alfred Nzo District. The event, held in collaboration with Ward Committee and the Traditional Authority of Ward 13, provided a vital platform for youth to explore post-schooling and economic opportunities.

The fair aimed to engage young people on various opportunities available through government departments, municipalities, post-schooling institutions, and government agencies. Attendees received valuable information on economic opportunities including non-financial support, financial support, grant funding, and skills development.

Several key departments and agencies participated in the event, including the Departments of Agriculture, Land Reform and Agrarian Reform, Employment and Labour, Rural Development and Agrarian Reform, Economic Development, Environmental Affairs and Tourism. The Small Enterprise Development Agency (SEDA), National Youth Development Agency (NYDA), Umzimvubu Local Municipality, Ingwe TVET College, and Alfred Nzo District Municipality were also present to offer guidance and support.

One of the highlights was the Department of Employment and Labour’s mobile bus, which registered young people in their job seekers national database. The National Youth Development Agency provided guidance on online registration to access their services, ensuring that the youth have the tools they need to succeed.

Ndyebo Kopo of GCIS RCC in Alfred Nzo District emphasized the importance of such initiatives, stating, “This fair is a crucial step in empowering our youth with the knowledge and resources they need to pursue their career goals and contribute to the local economy. We are committed to supporting our young people and providing them with the opportunities they deserve.”

The event was well-received by the community, with many young attendees expressing their gratitude for the chance to connect with potential employers and learn about various support mechanisms available to them.
