In the year 2020, artist Yallunder presented her first solo project titled Uthando Lwam under the record label 1020 Cartel.
Songs such as Uthando Lwam and the well known “Ndinovalo” from the joint record label album titled iSambulo are two of her most prominent songs outside of her collaborative works in the dance music genre. These are the songs that best introduced us to the soulful and powerful voice of Yolanda Nyembezi otherwise known as Yallunder.
Her EP, and her collaborative works in the dance music space with the likes of Kabza De Small, Morda, Oskido, and Heavy K to mention a few sustained her career the past two years however those who know her for her soulful sound have long awaited music that is her own sound, Afro Soul.
Now, almost three years later, Yallunder presents her second offering titled KUM with its release single titled 11:11 Makukhanye.
“11:11 Makukhanye” meaning let there be light is fitting considering that this is her first project released fully as an independent artist. KUM is an eight-track project which features only one artist and poet, Nuesam with producers from her previous project such as Bongane Radebe, Just Lindor, Lesole Matlabe, Thokozani Monare and a new touch from Essa Kay, Mzizi Innocent and Mthunzi who produced the afore-mentioned lead single.
Yallunder has always written from a point of feelings and the ultimate response to her music is knowing how it made the listener feel. The inspiration continues to be the love for the music, the constant need to heal ones self, comfort thine self and the need to provide all this healing to the next person and the upcoming project is no different and is not a deviation from this.
11:11 Makukhanye is set to be released on the 9th of June and the full project KUM comes out on the 4th of August 2023 and will be available on all music distribution and streaming platforms. Distributed by Ingrooves in association with Masani Music.
