WRONGFULLY BURIED WOMAN EXHUMED

Date:

16 September 2021, the body of 58-year Beatrice Dingi from Sitshayelo locality, Lusikisiki who was buried at a wrong homestead was exhumed today. She was supposed to be laid to rest on Thursday last week but due to complications in funeral parlours that were working together to give an old lady a send-off, she got buried by a wrong Mjobo family at Mfinizweni, Lusikisiki. According to Noluvo Dingi, the daughter of the deceased; her mother could not be found in mortuary on a day of the funeral, and they got shocked.

“When we went to collect the body from the mortuary, we could not believe when we were told that our mother is not in there, we should go back in few days, and we will find a solution” Dingi said.

She also says when they were waiting for the day to go back, they found that another homestead has a body of a woman who was wrongfully buried, and they had talks with the family of Mjobo who decided to identify the body in mortuary. “After talking with the Dingi family they decided to identify the body and it was found that they buried a wrong one”.

Today they exhumed the body from Dingi homestead in Mfinizweni locality and re-buried in Sitshayelo where she was supposed to be buried. Sicelithemba Funeral parlour had no contract with the Jingi family as they were asked to provide mortuary for the deceased. Gabriel Funerals could not be found today. However, yesterday Gabriel funeral services when they were contacted, they said the family were told everything.

“Sicelithemba is the one who mistaken and confused these bodies, and we are not at fault in this issue” Gabriel’s Nkanyiso Mkhungo said.

These bodies are now laid to rest, but the Dingi family says they won’t let this slide. They will take further actions.
