The Winnie Madikizela-Mandela Local Municipality (WMMLM) successfully participated in the Africa Travel Indaba 2025, held from 12 to 15 May in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. As part of a global tourism initiative, the municipality joined Africa’s premier travel and trade show to promote local tourism, create business links, and attract potential investors.
Africa Travel Indaba is the continent’s largest and most influential travel marketing event, drawing tourism professionals, businesses, and media from across the globe. The platform allows African destinations to showcase their unique offerings and connect with international buyers.
WMMLM seized the opportunity to highlight Bizana’s untapped tourism potential, with a special focus on homestay operators and local tour guides. These representatives shared their knowledge and stories about Bizana’s scenic landscapes, cultural heritage, and authentic travel experiences.
“The Indaba allows us to amplify lesser-known destinations like Bizana and support grassroots tourism enterprises,” said a WMMLM spokesperson. “We want the world to see the richness of our region.”
Through this participation, the municipality aims to stimulate local economic development by encouraging tourism-linked job creation and investment in the Eastern Cape.
