This follows after netball players, government officials and Winnie Madikizela-Mandela Local Municipality Sports council representative elected a new structure to lead in this journey on the 7th of August 2021. This brought so much joy and hope to everyone present at the elections, since they have been excluded in every competition taking place due to lack of leadership.
This was discovered by Mr Mgoqi of Mpetshwa association that have sixteen teams who encountered difficulties when he wanted to affiliate for his association. Mr V. Mgoqi is also a community member who wishes nothing but to protect children from being preoccupied by the things that will jeopardize their future.
This was not an easy one, there were challenges as the means of engaging with the old structure went in vain hence these elections were postponed on the 3rd to the 7th since the members did not show up on the meetings; as a result no proper hand over was done, the former chairperson who have been the only attendee on the top five members had to answer on behalf of all of her subordinates.
Mr Nonkonela of department of sport recreation arts and culture was delighted by the outcomes and wished the newly elected structure good luck. He also urged them to reach out to the other wards that were not represented.
“Thank you sir for being there for us, we once tried this and failed due to lack of information and today it is finally done, I would like to apologise to those we didn’t reach to while trying and I promise you on behalf of myself and the rest of the team, that we will work hard and reach out where ever we are supposed to” said Sibusiso Nzuza, the new chairperson thanking Mr Mgoqi for his efforts.
