Nkokheli Twabu, stage name Volo Da Saint has been involved in a number of initiatives that focus on developing rural areas, Bizana has been one the towns that have been positively impacted by his active involvement in the development, for instance, Bizana has an annual event called OR Tambo Homage Concert. The Concert is meant to Celebrate the life of O. R Thambo the event has hosted a number of big names in the entertainment industry like the Late AkA, Sjava, DJ Tira and so many more and many local businesses have benefitted from the Concert.
The renowned DJ has now joined the SUV challenge as an ambassador with the likes of Bethusile Mcinga and other famous musicians, this SUV challenge is about empowering and inspiring people in the deep rural areas the places that people would normally ignore. The SUV challenge focuses on GBV, social cohesion and heritage tour.
Volo Da Saint says this has been an eye opening challenge because they have visited most places in the Eastern Cape, they also visited Mqhekezweni and saw the rondavel that Tata Nelson Rholihlahla Mandela was sleeping in. They gave some young girls sanitary towels and computer labs to some schools. He says he is excited about the upcoming initiatives there’s an upcoming one that will be in KZN.
