The Umzimvubu Local Municipality has issued an urgent warning to the public and stakeholders following the circulation of a fake legal document falsely attributed to the Mayor, Cllr Zukiswa Ndevu.

According to a media statement released on Friday, the fraudulent document, which has been widely distributed, is completely unauthorized and has no affiliation with the Mayor or the municipality. Officials have condemned the document as false and misleading, urging all stakeholders to disregard it entirely.

“The municipality disregards this fake document in its entirety and urges all stakeholders to do the same,” read the statement.

Authorities further reminded the public that all legitimate communication from the Mayor’s Office is issued through official municipal channels and bears authentic municipal letterhead. Anyone in possession of the document or with concerns has been asked to verify by calling 039 255 8531/15.

The municipality confirmed that an investigation is underway and assured the public that action will be taken against those responsible for this deceptive act.

“Please stay alert and do not be misled by fraudulent activities,” the statement concluded.

For media enquiries, Senior Communications Manager Nokhanyo Zembe can be contacted at Zembe.Nokhanyo@umzimvubu.gov.za or on 072 091 3952.
