In a proactive move to embrace modern technology and facilitate enhanced learning experiences, the Umzimvubu Local Municipality embarked on its annual initiative to provide laptops to deserving schools.
On Wednesday, during the month of April, the Municipality orchestrated a program to distribute laptops to schools that demonstrated outstanding performance in grade ten the previous year.
This longstanding program by the Municipality selects four schools each year, with two situated in KwaBhaca and two in EmaXesibeni. Alongside laptops, the initiative includes the provision of backpacks, printers, and Wi-Fi routers, complemented by a generous allocation of 15GB of free data monthly for an entire year.
Mayor Councilor Zukiswa Ndevu articulated that the core objective of this initiative is to facilitate students’ access to and utilization of modern technology. With the world increasingly reliant on technology, the Municipality aims to equip students with the necessary tools to excel academically and adapt to evolving educational landscapes.
This year, the fortunate beneficiaries of the program are Jojo S.S.S and Mbodleni S.S.S high schools, along with Gillespie P.S and Mbodleni P.S primary schools.
As these educational institutions receive this technological boost, the Municipality anticipates a positive impact on students’ academic performance and their readiness for a tech-driven future.
