Small boys become big men from the influence of big men who care about small boys. Unknown.

Shadrack Daniel, a regional manager from Legends Barber Shop under Eastern Cape and KZN is a true example of this quote. The main goal of the Legends Barber Shop is to empower young people in their local community. They are looking into empowering young boys and girls who want to further their studies but do not have the finances for it, and those who are trying to make a difference in their homes.

With Gender Based Violence cases so high, Legends Barber Shop wants to teach young boys respect, responsibility and how they can be better contributors of the community they live in. They want to be good influencers to the young boys in their community. They want to hire and train them to be part of the team, however, they are not restricted to young boys only, they are open to empowering, hiring and train young girls who want to make something of themselves. Legends Barber Shop wants to hire and train young girls as well to do away with the stereotype of “a woman cannot touch a man’s head”. They believe that men and women should be treated the same with the respect they deserve. Every customer will receive a service whether it comes from a man or a woman.

Peter Tshidi, General manager of Wild Coast Sun is a person who believes in community enrichment, and development of the community, Legends Barber Shop also believes in community development; Shadrack Daniel and his team recently visited Plangeni JSS at Amadiba A/A in Casino Bizana, giving free haircuts to young boys and girls. Their target was 30 students.

They are looking into visiting more schools and giving back to the students and the community.  Legends Barber Shop takes pride in knowing they played a role in that young’s man’s/ girl’s confidence after a fresh cut. They believe that if these young people can take care of themselves, they will be able to take care of the people around them and the community at large.

Shadrack’s words of encouragement to the young boys:

My message to the young men as a barber sitting at home, not working is that it is possible to be a barber. If you are willing to join us, you are welcome, we are hiring and we are training. Take good care of yourself and always look apart because before people get to know you, they judge you by your appearance.

Legends Barber Shop is excited to be launching their shop in the Eastern Cape at Wild Cost Sun Casino on Saturday, the 09th of September 2023. Big Zulu and DJ Tira will also be making appearances. You sure do not want to miss out. Be there, don’t be told about it!!
