The Department of Sport, Arts & Culture, in collaboration with the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA), has launched the Young Creatives Programme, a two-year National Youth Service Programme designed to mobilize communities and engage youth in arts and culture.
This exciting initiative aims to recruit young people in the Creative & Cultural Industries to implement arts and cultural activities in Community Arts Centres and schools, mobilize schools and youth formations, and coordinate events in the community.
Responsibilities and Requirements
Successful applicants will be expected to:
- Implement arts and cultural activities in Community Arts Centres and schools
- Mobilize schools and youth formations to participate in the programme
- Coordinate and support programme events in the community
- Maintain relationships with local community organizations and youth groups
- Monitor programme implementation and commit to personal development and growth
To be eligible, candidates must:
- Hold a Grade 12 Certificate (tertiary qualification an added advantage)
- Be between 18 and 35 years old
- Be from the creative and cultural sector
- Possess facilitation and presentation skills
- Be proficient in English and a local language
- Have a strong communication and youth development background
- Be self-initiating, proactive, and detail-oriented
- Display ability to role model
Application Details
A monthly stipend of R4,000 will be provided to successful applicants. Interested candidates should submit their applications to the Provincial Coordinators listed on the poster below. The closing date for applications is 20 February 2025.
