Walter Sisulu University (WSU) has suspended all operations following the fatal shooting of a student during a protest on its Mthatha campus on Tuesday morning.
According to reports, a security guard discharged a firearm after protesters allegedly set a vehicle ablaze near student accommodation. The identity of the deceased student has not been released, and the motive behind the protest remains unclear.
The university community is in shock as authorities launch an investigation into the incident. WSU has urged calm and assured that measures are being taken to ensure the safety of students and staff.
