Sinenkani FC has confirmed that its matches have been suspended by the South African Football Association (SAFA) Eastern Cape pending a disciplinary hearing. The club received formal communication from SAFA EC, summoning them to appear before the disciplinary committee and informing them of the suspension of all their games.
As a result, the scheduled match against Amaxesibe FC on Saturday, February 8, 2025, has been canceled. Sinenkani FC has expressed its intention to challenge the charges laid against them, stating that they do not believe they have done anything wrong to warrant disciplinary action.
The club has also lodged a formal complaint with SAFA regarding the match commissioner for their recent match against FC Ravens, alleging a conflict of interest. Additionally, they have sought clarity on the non-arrival of referees for their match against G-millionaires FC on January 1, 2025.
Sinenkani FC has called on its supporters to remain calm while they consult with their legal team to determine a suitable response to the SAFA EC communications. The club has promised to keep its supporters informed of any further developments.
Fans have taken to social media to express their views on the suspension. Thabang Sokhulu commented, “The unfortunate part is that if no SAFA referee’s want to officiate your games SAFA has the right and authority to chase you guys out of the league… it’s time the club does restructuring and also self-introspection.”
Lidz Lihle Radebe expressed a different sentiment, saying, “This is how they steal the league… they always play these mind games just to frustrate the masses while other teams stay focused.”
