THE South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) pays out various types of social grants to more than 18 million beneficiaries each month.

Beneficiaries, except those who receive the R350 grant, can still collect their grants at the post office. Additionally, all grants can be withdrawn from ATMs or selected retail partners such as Shoprite, Checkers, Pick n Pay, Boxer and Shoprite U-Save.

Here are the payment dates for July:

  • Older persons – 4 July
  • Disability grants – 5 July
  • Other grants, including the children’s grant – 6 July

The Sassa gold card works like any regular bank card and beneficiaries can draw money at an ATM and use it at a till point. Beneficiaries are urged to create a PIN for their cards so their money can’t be withdrawn if the card if lost or stolen.

Once grants are paid each month, they remain on the card until the beneficiary is ready to use the money. If the gold card has expired, beneficiaries can visit the nearest post office to get a replacement. But the card can still be used until 31 December 2023.
