SASSA in Mpumalanga is assisting R370 SRD grant recipients who are unable to complete biometric identity verification due to lack of access to data, smartphones, or laptops. The agency is encouraging affected beneficiaries to visit their nearest SASSA local office to use available tools such as kiosks, guest Wi-Fi, and official laptops.
The support is aimed at helping eligible recipients verify their identity on time, avoid grant payment delays, and stay protected from scams.
Why it matters to you
If you receive the R370 SRD grant and have been asked to complete biometric verification but do not have the necessary tools or internet access, you risk missing or delaying your payment.
Going to your local SASSA office will allow you to complete the process using their secure systems.
What you need to know
Acting Regional Executive Manager Ms Xolela Mpambani confirmed that:
“The Agency is doing this to ensure that all qualifying beneficiaries receive their grant at the right time, to avoid unnecessary delays and eliminate frustrations.”
She also reminded recipients that some SRD grant applications may be declined if a source of income is detected through external databases, including banks. In such cases, beneficiaries have the right to appeal the decision.
Important details:
- SASSA offices are equipped for biometric identity verification
- Beneficiaries can use SASSA kiosks, laptops or free Wi-Fi
- Applications may be declined if income is detected
- Appeals are allowed if the reason for decline is incorrect
