The Parliament of the Republic of South Africa has issued a call for nominations to fill two non-executive member positions on the Board of the Media Development and Diversity Agency (MDDA).

This invitation is open to both institutions and individuals, and seeks candidates with a strong commitment to fairness, freedom of expression, accountability, and media diversity. The MDDA was established under the MDDA Act of 2002 (Act No. 14 of 2002) to foster inclusive media access and development, particularly for disadvantaged communities and small commercial media projects.

To qualify, nominees must be South African citizens ordinarily resident in the Republic and must demonstrate relevant expertise in areas such as:

  • Community Media
  • Social, Labour and Development Issues
  • Media Economics and Finance
  • Journalism and Broadcast Programming
  • Advertising and Marketing
  • Media Research and Literacy
  • ICT Policy, Media Law and more

Nominations must include the full contact details of the nominator and nominee, a signed acceptance of the nomination by the nominee, a detailed Curriculum Vitae, copies of certified qualifications, and an identity document.

⚠️ Late nominations will not be considered.

The nomination and interview process will be open to the public, and all nominees will undergo qualification and security checks.
