Enyobeni Tavern

Parents of young people who died in Enyobeni tavern at Scenery Park, East London want know the cause of death of their children.

On the 26 of June this year 21 young people died at Enyobeni tavern, parents told drum magazine that they are not informed about anything by the police regarding the death of their children.

Xolile Mlangeni father of Esinako Sanarhana(17), who died in the incident at Enyobeni tavern said they are still waiting for answers from the government as to what really happened on that day.

Mlangeni said, ” The government is not saying anything, the police are not communicating with us we keep getting brief updates from the news there is no conclusive information from the officials.”

Noluthando Nkani who lost her 18 year old daughter Inathi Nkani, supports the statement said by Mlangeni.

According to the parents, government promised them that post mortem results will be available in two weeks after the incident which will clearly show the cause of death of the 21 victims.

The Eastern Cape liquor board opened a case against the owner of the tavern Siyakhangela Ndevu, he was then arrested together with his two employees who later got out on bail of R2000 each.

A female bouncer of this tavern Thembisa Diko said they do not ask for Identity Documents, they just look them in the face and let them inside.
