The National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF) has announced the Sixth Presidential Employment Stimulus Programme (PESP) film funding roadshows — set to empower Eastern Cape filmmakers with access to major funding opportunities for production, skills development, and marketing.
What’s Happening and Where
The NFVF, in partnership with the Eastern Cape Development Corporation (ECDC), will host three film funding sessions across the province:
| Location | Date |
|---|---|
| East London | 22 October 2025 |
| Mthatha | 23 October 2025 |
| Gqeberha | 24 October 2025 |
These sessions aim to help producers, students, and emerging creatives understand how to access NFVF and ECDC co-funding to elevate their film projects and create sustainable local jobs.
Funding Streams Available
Filmmakers can apply for support in three key categories:
- Production (including development & post-production): Up to R10 million for Group 1 projects and R2 million for Group 2 projects.
- Skills Development: Between R700,000 and R1 million.
- Marketing & Distribution: Between R500,000 and R1.5 million.
The ECDC Film Investment Fund also offers co-funding to match successful NFVF applications — boosting the impact of local film initiatives.
Why It Matters
This initiative continues the national mission to create jobs, upskill local talent, and promote authentic Eastern Cape storytelling. It’s a chance for local filmmakers to move their projects from concept to screen with real financial backing.
