Matatiele Local Municipality commits on the maintenance of Khohlong and Malubelube Access Roads

In addition to projects that are currently underway, on Tuesday Cllr Mzwamandla Nyembezi and Cllr Thembeka Dyantyi joined by Ward 3 Councillor, Cllr Mathakane led a delegation to Ward 3 introduce a contractor appointed for the Maintenance of 2KM Malubelube Access Road and 1.8KM Khohlong Access Road at a value of R2.8 Million for both projects. These two projects are part of the Municipal Operations and Maintenance programme and will be done under the Disaster Management Project funding. The scope of works includes roadbed preparations, tipping of gravel material and processing of gravel material.

Furthermore, through the Municipal Infrastructure, Planning & Development Department the Municipality is currently maintaining and constructing close to 55 Kilometers of the following access roads with related stormwater facilities and signage, 15.6km Lekhalong access road, 8km Mafube-Nkosana access road, 9.1km Dengwane, Khoapa-Zwelitsha access road, 2.4km Rammatli access road 11.3km Queen’s Mercy access road, 5.9km Masopha access road and 8km Caba – Dlodlweni access road. Re-habilitation of 6,7km of Matatiele (CBD) Internal Streets – Cluster 1 and 4.5km Harry Gwala Internal Streets are also under construction.

Addressing the community of Malubelube, Cllr Nyembezi;

“The Municipality would like to plea with members of the public to be patient with the government as many of our access roads were affected by the disaster”.
