On 20 July 2022, the Chippa Mpengesi Foundation alongside Chippa United Football club will be hosting a day full of festivities for the Ekunene community in Deberha Village, Engcobo, Eastern Cape. Oscar Mabuyane, Eastern Cape Government Premier will be lending a hand and working together with hosts of the day.
A media report that was released on Saturday, 16 July 2022, states that the Chippa United Football Club, Chippa Mpengesi Foundation and Honorable Mabuyane will be slaughtering a cow for the community. They will also be giving away full soccer kits, equipment to four identified local teams and handing out a fully furnished house to a family that was left homeless after their house was burnt down.
According to the released media report, the house handover is located in the Dr. AB Xuma Local Municipality region. The house handover will however be conducted by Chippa Holdings Executive Chairman, Mr. Siviwe Mpengesi and Honorable Oscar Mabuyane.
“This year, we are in Engcobo, an area that also has a large and loyal following for Chippa United Football Club. It is always my mission and objective to give back as much as I possibly can. We have been supporting destitute homeless families by building them homes over the years as our part towards society. I appreciate the constant support that we receive from Honorable Mabuyane as well as the Eastern Cape government, and we are both aligned on the vision of improving society and our people” said Mr. Mpengesi.
There will also be blankets given out to the local elders of Deberha this initiative will be conducted by Mr. Mpengesi and Mr. Mabuyane.
“I am very excited about the activities coming up as we continue in playing our part for our community – an aspect that we get to do each year in line with the Mandela Week initiatives as we celebrate our late struggle hero and the mottos that he stood for” concluded Mr. Mpengesi.
