Berlin, Emncotsho – At just 20 years old, Samkelo Sigaji is already making a name for himself in the music industry. The Grade 12 candidate’s journey to stardom began when he was just 14, inspired by fellow Berlin native, Ranny Taleni.
“I saw Ranny Taleni’s success and thought, ‘If a young star from my village can do it, why can’t I?'” Sigaji recalls.
In 2017, Sigaji started writing his own music, and two years later, he released his debut single, “Uthando”. The song’s message is close to his heart: inspiring couples to strengthen their relationships.
“I wanted to create something that would uplift and encourage people to work on their relationships,” Sigaji explains.
The young artist’s talent and passion quickly gained recognition in his community. He began performing at local events and weddings, with the full support of his community.
“The community has been incredibly supportive,” Sigaji says. “They’ve given me opportunities to showcase my music, and I’m grateful for that.”
Sigaji’s hard work has paid off. He now receives regular bookings and has acquired a manager to help navigate the industry.
“I’ve grown so much, and it’s all thanks to my community’s love and support,” Sigaji beams.
Currently, Sigaji is working on his next single, “Impilo Engcono”, promising another soulful instalment.
With his star on the rise, Samkelo Sigaji is an inspiration to aspiring artists in Berlin and beyond.
