In a world where women still face obstacles in rising to leadership positions, 19-year-old Zizipho Tobo is breaking barriers and inspiring a new generation, a first-year student at the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits), Zizipho is the founder of Women That Lead, an organization dedicated to nurturing leadership potential in young women and building a future where gender equality is the norm.

Driven by a deep passion for change, Zizipho recognized early on the urgent need to empower women and create spaces where their voices are amplified. Through Women That Lead, she offers mentorship, leadership development, and a community of support for young women navigating challenges in both academic and social spaces.

Beyond her organization, Zizipho is an active member of the South African Students Congress (SASCO), a movement rooted in the legacy of Steve Biko and the fight for student rights and social justice. Her involvement in SASCO reflects her broader commitment to community activism and advancing equity on campus and beyond.

Zizipho’s work celebrates women in both formal leadership roles and in the everyday decisions that shape their communities. By encouraging confidence, connection, and courage, she is helping young women recognize their power and potential.

Her journey reminds us that leadership is not confined by age. With unwavering determination and vision, Zizipho Tobo is reshaping narratives and laying the groundwork for a more inclusive society — one where young women lead boldly and without apology.
