The Mayor of Umuziwabantu Municipality, Councilor Siboniso Zungu, on 25 November 2025, officially launched road construction projects in Wards 03 and 08. The initiative aims to boost local infrastructure and connectivity for surrounding communities.
What Happened?
The first sod was turned in Ward 08 to start repairs on the road linking Madamini to Mtholampilo in Mbonwa. In Ward 03, construction began on the Connor Road in Ghost Town.
Contractors were officially awarded for both projects, to start of essential upgrades to municipal transport routes. The works are expected to improve travel safety, reduce commute times, and support economic activities in the area.
Official Response
Mayor Zungu emphasized the importance of collaboration between communities and contractors. He emphasized that these projects are part of broader municipal efforts to strengthen infrastructure.
“Our goal is to ensure better access and connectivity while fostering local development,” Zungu said. “Community cooperation is key to the success of these projects.”
