The South African Police Service in the Eastern Cape, has reported that three females in their twenties died in a tavern on Saturday the 24th of December 2022. The incident occurred in Hofmeyr, Eastern Cape.
Police have registered an inquest docket to further investigate what could have killed these young women.
Police spokesperson Brigadier Tembinkosi Kinana said, their preliminary investigations suggest that the young people were allegedly sprayed with an unknown substance.
“The incident was reported to the local police station and it is alleged that the victims died on the scene. Circumstances surrounding the incident including the cause of death will form part of the investigation, at this stage no suspect has been identified,” Brigadier Tembinkosi Kinana.
Police are pleading with anyone who has the information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects responsible for the incident, to please contact the nearest police station immediately.
