South African Music Rights Organizations (SAMRO), tweeted during the hours on Saturday, 24 December 2022, confirming the death of Mandla “Mampintsha” Maphumulo on Twitter.

“Mampintsha will always be remembered for his immense contribution to the South African Music Industry” tweeted SAMRO.

In a statement that was released by Afrotainment record label on Thursday, 22 December 2022, the musician suffered a stroke after his group performance with Big Nuz and was hospitalized.

“He is currently in hospital receiving medical attention and is under doctor’s observation,” the statement said. “The family asks that the public and media respect their privacy during this difficult time.”

Afrotainment Record label also confirmed his passing in a statement, “It is with great sadness that we share the news of the untimely passing of the multi-award winning artist, Mampintsha. Born Mandla Maphumulo from Umalazi, KZN”.

Meanwhile, details of the ultimate cause of his death have not been yet disclosed.

Mampintsha leaves behind his wife, Bongekile “Babes Wodumo” Maphumulo, and his only son.
