In a move to address rising living costs, the South African government has announced that, effective April 1, 2025, all SASSA social grants, except the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant, will see above-inflation increases.
Detailed Increases:
- Old Age Grant: Increases by R130 (5.9%) to R2,315 per month.
- Disability Grant: Rises by R130 (5.9%) to R2,315 per month.
- War Veterans Grant: Up by R130 (5.9%) to R2,335 per month.
- Care Dependency Grant: Increases by R130 (5.9%) to R2,315 per month.
- Foster Care Grant: Rises by R70 (5.9%) to R1,250 per month.
- Child Support Grant: Up by R30 (5.6%) to R560 per month.
- Grant-in-Aid: Increases by R30 (5.6%) to R560 per month.
These adjustments aim to support vulnerable populations amid economic challenges.
