Cyril Ramaphosa, the president of the African National Congress (ANC), Gwede Mantashe, and Bejani Chauke, a candidate for treasurer general, have all been accused with vote-buying during the ANC’s 55th National Conference earlier this month.
T. Mdletshe, an ANC member from KwaZulu-Natal, has sent a harsh letter to Kgalema Motlanthe, the ANC’s electoral chairperson, accusing the current leadership of trying to purchase votes at the NASREC convention.
Mdletshe continues by saying that if vote buying hadn’t occurred at the conference, the result might have been different.
The damning letter addressed to Kgalema Motlanthe details the vote-buying during the ANC 55th National Conference by Ramaphosa, Mantashe, and Chauke. However, neither Motlanthe nor ANC Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula have acknowledged receiving this letter, which was dated 26th of December
With 2 476 votes to 1 897, Ramaphosa defeated former Health Minister Dr. Zweli Mkhize.
Chief Matsila says, The ANC is expected to respond to allegations of vote purchasing at the 55th national conference.
