NPA Hosts Training Workshop on Tackling Illegal Immigration

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), through its Sexual Offences and Community Affairs (SOCA) Unit, has conducted a specialised training workshop to address the management of foreign nationals and challenges linked to illegal immigration.

The session brought together a range of stakeholders who regularly encounter immigration-related issues in their work. Participants included South African Police Service (SAPS) Border Post Police, Department of Home Affairs officials, Immigration Officers, and members of the Border Management Authority tasked with access control at ports of entry.

The training aimed to enhance cooperation between departments, improve the handling of immigration cases, and ensure compliance with relevant laws and procedures. By creating a shared understanding of the legal framework and operational processes, the NPA hopes to strengthen the country’s capacity to respond to illegal immigration while safeguarding human rights.

Officials also discussed the importance of inter-agency coordination to prevent duplication of efforts, streamline case management, and ensure swift, lawful action against offenders.
