On 9 September 2025, the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality has completed water leak repairs in 15 suburbs, an action officials say will cut water loss, safeguard infrastructure, and provide residents with a more reliable supply. The repairs form part of the municipality’s ongoing service delivery drive under the Infrastructure and Engineering Directorate.
What Happened
Teams from the Infrastructure and Engineering Directorate carried out repairs in the following areas: Springfield, Lorraine, Miramar, Fairview, Walmer Location, Cotswold, Kunene Park, Newton Park, Overbaakens, Walmer, Greenbushes, Central, Mcleanville, Glendinningvale, and Linton Grange.
The municipality said the project shows its focus on addressing community needs directly on the ground and ensuring water systems are maintained for long-term use.

Municipal officials praised the rapid response by engineering teams.
“Every litre saved makes a difference. We are committed to reducing water losses and improving service delivery for residents across all wards,” a spokesperson said.
The city also encouraged residents to be proactive in reporting leaks through the municipal hotline, email, or ward councillors.
