The Nelson Mandela Bay Economic Development, Tourism, and Agriculture Directorate hosted its third information session for SMMEs on 08 December 2025. The session, held at the Veeplaas Business Centre, was presented in partnership with the Small Enterprise Development Finance Agency (SEFA).
The briefing forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen local businesses through training, support, and improved access to funding.
What Happened?
Officials introduced entrepreneurs to the Department of Small Business Development’s Asset Assist Program, which is now open for applications.
The program offers financial support of up to R250 000 for machinery, equipment, working capital, and limited raw materials.
Local business owners welcomed the session and said the information would help them apply for opportunities that were previously unclear or difficult to access.
Who Can Apply?
Eligible applicants must meet the following requirements:
✔ Qualifying Businesses
- South African–owned MSMEs
- CIPC-registered
- Tax compliant
- Previously unfunded applicants may reapply
Not Eligible
- Co-operatives
- Businesses with turnover above R1 million
- Previously funded applicants
