A brutal attack on a police officer has shocked the Ngcobo community after Sergeant Lukholo Ndaba was found murdered in a field near Tsomo. His death has intensified growing concerns about violent attacks on police in the Eastern Cape.

What Happened

Eastern Cape MEC for Transport and Community Safety, Xolile Nqatha, has condemned the killing of police officer Sergeant Lukholo Ndaba, whose body was found early on Saturday, 7 December 2025, in a pool of blood in Ngcobo.

The 37-year-old officer was discovered in a field near Zazo A/A in Tsomo. According to reports, Ndaba had multiple stab wounds and showed signs of severe assault.

Official Response

MEC Nqatha called the killing a “barbaric act” and confirmed that police had arrested three suspects believed to be behind the murder.

“I am extremely happy that the police have apprehended the three men who allegedly committed this heinous crime,” said Nqatha.

He praised investigators for acting swiftly and urged the justice system to ensure a successful prosecution. “We hope their arrests will lead to a conviction so that the bereaved families can find justice and closure.”

Community Impact

Sergeant Ndaba’s murder has sent shockwaves through Ngcobo and surrounding areas. The officer’s death adds to concerns about rising attacks on SAPS members in rural parts of the Eastern Cape.

Nqatha extended his condolences to Ndaba’s family and colleagues. “We share their pain and are committed to ensuring that justice is served.”
