Eastern Cape Premier Lubabalo Oscar Mabuyane said, He is quite happy to see that the Statistics South Africa Quarterly Labour Force Survey, Quarter 3 of 2022 indicates that the rate of unemployment in the province has decreased by 5.0 percentage points.

According to the report, year-on-year, the official unemployment rate decreased by 2,0 percentage points. The official unemployment rate decreased in six provinces and the largest reduction was recorded in the Eastern Cape.

For us as the Eastern Cape Government, this is an indication that our economic development strategy is beginning to bear fruits, we are also grateful for the collaborative efforts and impactful partnerships we have enjoyed with the private sector leading to these great results said Mabuyane.
