
Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality has announced a new Mayoral Committee aimed at improving service delivery and municipal oversight.
The leadership changes were announced by Executive Mayor Princess Faku, who said the reconfiguration is intended to strengthen the municipality’s ability to address long-standing service delivery challenges.
The newly structured Mayoral Committee will focus on key service areas including water and sanitation, electricity provision, infrastructure maintenance and waste management.
What happened
Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality has introduced several new members to its Mayoral Committee following a leadership reconfiguration.
According to Mayor Faku, the changes are designed to ensure councillors’ expertise and skills align with the responsibilities of critical municipal portfolios.
“The municipality could be able to achieve the targets set out if the reconfiguration is effected with the matching of expertise, skills and capacity to the relevant portfolios,” she said.
The Executive Mayor said the restructured leadership team will also play a role in implementing the municipality’s Audit Action Plan following findings by the Auditor-General South Africa.
