The African National Congress (ANC) has announced that it can no longer continue with “business as usual” in its Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal structures. This comes after the party’s poor performance in the recent general elections.

According to ANC national spokesperson Mahlengi Bhgengu-Motsiri, the party acknowledges serious organisational, political, and service delivery weaknesses in the two provinces. The ANC’s National Executive Committee is currently considering two options: dissolving the Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal structures or sending in additional reinforcements.

A decision is expected to be made soon.
