Athenkosi Mavundla, popularly known as DJ Mavucks, hails from the rural town of Bizana in Greenville and recently returned from Gqeberha, where he participated in a Tru FM competition workshop. Among the top 12 DJs selected to compete, Mavucks now faces eliminations as he vies for the top spot.
Seeking support from his loyal followers and the communities of Alfred Nzo and OR Tambo districts, DJ Mavucks expressed his gratitude for his brother’s inspiration in pursuing DJing, igniting his passion for music and entertainment.
Having crafted mixtapes for local radio stations and graced the stages of clubs, events, and festivals, Mavucks draws inspiration from renowned DJs such as Mr Thela, Masta D, Bhizo Wethu, Volo da Saint, and Dj Cue, among others.
Currently working on an EP featuring prominent artists, Mavucks encourages supporters to vote for him by texting “DJ1 to 39721,” with each SMS costing R1.50. The voters with the most votes stands a chance to win R5000, offering Mavucks a chance to showcase his talent on a larger stage.
