Climate change resulted in extreme weather conditions like drought and floods season are not the same anymore, we have to keep up with the world that’s warming up faster than normal since the inception of industrialization and climate change is a frank result of too much carbon dioxide being released into the atmosphere, take for instance the April floods that caused a lot of damage in KZN and in some parts of the Eastern Cape.

Kwanda Nyembezi from Mkhandlweni in Bizana is a grade 9 learner from Tshayingca senior school, created a wire solar car and a water proof school bag using a white star meal-meal sack. The young man says he understands that the world is changing due to climate change and global warming so he created the car and the bag to adapt to the world that is rapidly changing.
Kwanda says the April floods contributed to him creating a water proof school bag because he did not want to arrive at school with wet books as he walks a distance to school. He explains that he is creative and spends most of his time looking for innovative ways of changing the life around him.
The young men says he wants to be an engineer who owns his establishment where is can assist people with fixing cars or designing new model of cars, he says his creative side is more into fashion because some of his clothing items are things he created himself, like refurbishing old racks into new likable items.
Kwanda says as time goes on he will learn how to incorporate his love for fashion and his engineering passion.
The young man is from Mkhandlweni, a place where one would think it’s possible to dream because of being in the deep rural far from everything, but he has managed to see the world outside his surroundings and above and beyond.
