King Sabata Dalindyebo Municipality Law Enforcement officials have arrested a suspect for impersonating an official and extorting money from tourists.

The suspect was apprehended after diligent police work, aided by an anonymous tip-off over the weekend. Authorities discovered the individual equipped with card machines and reflective jackets, highlighting the ongoing threat to tourists in the KSD region.

As the festive season approaches, the KSD Municipality is doubling down on its efforts to ensure that all visitors feel safe and welcome while exploring local attractions, including the renowned Hole in the Wall in Coffee Bay, a destination cherished by many.

KSD Executive Mayor Nelani expressed gratitude for the quick response from law enforcement, stating, “Our officers have shown commendable dedication to protecting both our community and our tourists. Ensuring their safety is a top priority, and we are committed to curbing crimes that target visitors.”

The municipality is urging both residents and tourists to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities. To report extortion or suspicious behavior, members of the community are urged to make use of the extortion line which is 082 387 156.
