On Wednesday Ingwe TVET College Siteto Campus decide to shut the gates of the campus due to grievances not met by the institution’s management, this was after a go-slow o Monday and Tuesday.
One student who refused to be mentioned told Pondoland Times that they have been complaining about computers that are not working and some not licensed since 2022. They said the EFF requested a mass meeting with the institution but failed, they then took it up on themselves to hold an authorized meeting.
The students say the management said its hands were tired as the computer issue is an admin problem, students demanded the institution to show evidence that they have been making measures of getting the problem solved which they could not bring forth. The shutdown was meant for the institution to fix the computers, allow students who had supplementary exams to write, and get a back generator.
Students say their fear is that students who were not allowed to write their supplementary exam might be subjected to failure because one of the rules is that candidates are not allowed to write LO Two if they were not able to write LO one which subsequently leads to repeating the module.
To guarantee a safe and organised protest Bizana police were at the institutions, by the time Pondoland Times reached the institution management was not longer at the premises which resulted to not getting a comment from the institutions management.
