The bail application of the 60-year-old man Thanduxolo Gogela accused of raping his 6-year-old granddaughter has been postponed to the 27th of February 2023 by the Maxesibeni Magistrate court. The accused will remain in custody till his next court hearing.
Gogela allegedly raped his Seven-year-old granddaughter and molested his two-year-old grandson on Saturday the 18th of February 2023.
residents held a peaceful march on Tuesday the 21st of February to the Maxesibeni magistrate court saying “NO Bail” to the accused.
“We are saying no bail to the perpetrator, we don’t need such behaviour in our community. This man sexually assaulted young kids, so how can he be released. We want justice to be served,” said Xolelwa Mbhono a gender-based violence activist from ward 28.
The mother of the victim, Zintle Gogela said her daughter informed her of what has happened on Sunday morning in fear of her life. She stated that the minor was raped by the Thanduxolo Gogela who the mother’s uncle, in their homestead. Adding that he did not only rape the girl but axlso forced a two-year-old boy to suck his private parts.
Reports say, the girl was taken to the doctor who confirmed that indeed she was rapes.
The 60-year-old Thanduxolo Gogela confessed to his wrong doings.
