Nolubabalo Mcinga is an outspoken activist, a highly visible figure as the estranged Queen of the AbaThembu Kingdom. The attention this former member of the Economic Freedom Fighters is getting only seems to escalate after she announced her decision to switch sides to MK Party. For leaving the Economic Freedom Fighters, she had not been heard to speak to the media. The political change, coupled with grassroots projects that speak volumes in the community.
Long before joining the ranks of the EFF, Queen Mcinga has been an activist who works in various streams for the upliftment of disadvantaged communities, from the homeless to supporting the deaf, drug abuse issues, and training youngsters through film and other creative projects in storytelling.
During her time with the EFF, she had been an outspoken voice in Parliament on behalf of the poor, land grabbing, historical injustices, and informal settlements. Disaster relief also reached out to her to ensure such displaced communities received whatever the displaced communities needed.
Of late, the Queen’s work has been visible in areas like Gugulethu and Langa, where she assisted families displaced by fires during the festive season. Her hands-on work has underlined her commitment to changing lives, rather than just talking about it.
Her move to the MK Party has, therefore, sparked speculation as to whether she was limited in her operations in the EFF. Observers have confirmed that the affiliation with the MK Party appears to give her new life in activism; a platform from which she can raise her bar and commitment to social change. Although trying to be media-shy, Queen Mcinga does much on-the-ground work that reveals her continued commitment to activism and philanthropy.
