On Monday 05 December, the Estcourt Regional Court in KwaZulu-Natal sentenced a father to three life imprisonment after he was found guilty of raping his biological daughter.
It is believed that the 49-year-old man started raping his daughter when she was only five years in 2005 until 2020 when he was arrested. When the incident started the victim was staying with her father in Estcourt after the separation of her parents. In 2007 the victim and her father moved to Imbali, Pietermaritzburg the father continuesly raped her and threatened to kill her if she tells anyone about the ordeal.
Durban police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda said, “The victim fell pregnant at the age of fifteen and gave birth to a baby boy. The matter was reported to the police in 2020 and the father was arrested.”
The police investigation which was led by Detective Sergeant Sandile Sanele Madlala, of the Escourt Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit proved beyond reasonable doubt that indeed the father was guilty of repeatedly raping his biological daughter and was sentenced to three life terms.
The Provincial Commissioner of KwaZulu-Natal Luitenent General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, has applauded Detective Sergeant Madlala on his tremendous job in ensuring that justice was served.
Luitenent General Mkhwanazi added, “Madlala did a wonderful job by ensuring that one perpetrator is removed from our society.”
