The EFF has called to have the minister of finance, Enock Godongwana to be removed because of the sexual assault allegations filed against him.

Over the weekend of Women’s Day, the minister was accused of sexually assaulting a massage therapist at the Kruger National Park while he was on holiday with his wife.

The assault case opened against the minster was confirmed by the Mpumalanga police.

Enock denied the allegations and claimed that he was with his wife at the time of the alleged incident.

The EFF said that if the government respects women, a minster accused of sexual harassment should be removed.

Minister Godongwana has further said that he has not received any information from the police informing him of any charges in relation to the sexual assault allegations against him.

In a statement released on Saturday, the minister acknowledged that he is aware of the case opened against him.

The case was lodged by the Skukuza employee that offered massage services to the guests in their rooms.

Minster Godongwana has said that he will not discuss the incident further.

Mfuneko Toyana, the minister’s spokesperson said, “The minister of finance flatly denies the allegations of sexual harassment concerning an article that’s been circulating on social media”.

Toyana further added that the minister has not received any formal complaint or communication from the police, therefore,  the minster will refrain from making any comments or discussions of the incident until such an appropriate time to discuss the alleged incident.
