Sinenkani FC has raised concerns over what it describes as the South African Football Association’s (SAFA) failure to implement a court order issued by Judge Rusi, relating to the club’s formal complaint about a match played against FC Ravens on 25 January 2025.
The matter, which was heard in court earlier this year, resulted in a ruling ordering SAFA National (Respondent 1) to investigate and determine Sinenkani FC’s complaint in line with its Competition Uniform Rules.
In an official statement released by the club, Sinenkani FC expressed frustration over SAFA’s subsequent actions, including a request for “more information” after the ruling—despite the club having submitted detailed affidavits during court proceedings. The request was made by Mr. Sikelela Mtangayi, who had previously opposed Sinenkani’s application.
“This request contradicts the court’s clear instruction in Order No. 3 and delays the investigation process unnecessarily,” said the club.
Sinenkani FC, through its legal representatives, contacted the SAFA CEO seeking clarity on the steps being taken to comply with the judgement. As of yet, they report having received no formal response.
Adding to the controversy, the club was notified after business hours on Thursday, 17 April 2025, about a disciplinary hearing scheduled for 21 April—a public holiday. The notice cited Sinenkani FC as the applicant and Bonakele Sodoli as the respondent, which the club viewed as inconsistent with the court’s ruling.
Despite acknowledging the receipt of a postponement email in the early hours of the morning, Sinenkani FC stated that no reason was given for the delay, and expressed discontent over logistical and travel arrangements that had already been made.
“We are left with the impression that SAFA is intentionally stalling the process as the playoffs approach, similar to the pattern we experienced last year,” the club stated.
The club is now in consultation with its lawyers to determine whether further legal recourse should be taken, including advising the court on what it believes is SAFA’s failure to comply with the ruling.
Sinenkani FC concluded by reaffirming its commitment to “justice in football,” promising to continue updating the public on further developments.
