What happened

During the visit, Ntsangani handed over 40 school bags, 40 pairs of school shoes, hygiene packs and sanitary towels for 40 learners.

The municipality said the initiative is aimed at supporting learners from disadvantaged backgrounds so they can attend school with dignity and confidence.

The mayor said the visit followed concerns raised about the school’s condition and learner needs. After assessing the situation, Amathole District Municipality announced that it has adopted Dalubuhle High School in order to monitor progress and support improvements at the school.

Officials noted that some school infrastructure appears old and shows signs of vandalism, which affects the learning environment.

Official response

Addressing educators during the visit, Ntsangani highlighted the important role teachers play in guiding and motivating learners.
